Introducing Ask the Architect

Ask the Architect is an ongoing series exploring how architecture shapes the way we experience our homes.

Many of the questions people ask about their spaces are not really design questions.

They are architectural ones.

Why does a room feel slightly off, even when everything looks right?
Why does a space feel close to calm, but never quite settle?
Why does daily life in a home feel harder than it should?

At the core of this series is a simple idea.

Before a space can be beautiful, it has to work.

Centered on real questions from homeowners and collaborators, Ask the Architect looks beneath the surface to understand what is actually happening in a space.

We focus on layout, proportion, balance, and spatial hierarchy — not as abstract concepts, but as the structure that quietly shapes how a home feels to live in.

This is not about decoration or product.

It’s about the framework that everything else sits on.

Because when the architecture is right, a space doesn’t need to work so hard.

It feels clear. Functional. Easy to live in.

Each feature offers a practical, architectural perspective on real spaces, with the goal of helping homes better support the people who live in them.

If you have a question about your space, we’re always open to hearing it. You can email us at info@kensingtondesignhouse.com.
