Research & Wellness Collaborators

We believe a home should support not only how it looks, but how people live, feel, move, and function within it.

To deepen that understanding, we collaborate with specialists whose work explores the relationship between people and their environments. Their perspectives help inform our research, the continued development of the Home Environment Study, and selected client projects where additional expertise may be valuable.

Together, these collaborations allow us to examine the home more fully — not only as a designed space, but as an environment that can support the people living within it over time.

Cheyenne Murphy, OTD, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist & Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS)
Charleston, South Carolina

Cheyenne Murphy is a Doctor of Occupational Therapy with clinical experience spanning the continuum of care from acute care and rehabilitation to long-term care, assisted living, memory care, and independent living settings. She holds a Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation from the National Association of Home Builders — a credential that bridges occupational therapy and residential design to support how people function safely and comfortably in their homes over time.

Her work evaluating how clients move through, adapt to, and recover within their environments aligns closely with how Kensington Design House approaches the Home Environment Study. Cheyenne's perspective helps us consider how spatial conditions — layout, circulation, lighting, thresholds, and daily routines — interact with physical function, independence, and quality of life.
