Fifty, Forward A note from me — and the beginning of something new.
They say milestone birthdays are markers. Turning points. Crossroads.
I’m not sure what to call 50 exactly, but I can tell you this:
I never thought it would come so quickly.

It feels like I’m closing a chapter that’s defined me for a long time.
Raising our kids.
Living in the place where so many memories were built.
Moving through rhythms that shaped entire decades.
And now?
I’m stepping into something completely new.
I’m turning 50 this month.
And while I’ve never been one to make a big deal out of birthdays, this one feels like more than just another candle on the cake.
It’s not about celebration.
It’s about alignment.
As I have grown older, I have grown more honest.
More aware of what matters.
And maybe for the first time in my life, I’m becoming the most authentic version of myself.
Chasing what I love.
Putting myself out there.
Loving fiercely.
And saying yes to the things that once felt just a little too far away.
We’ve been in a season of big shifts.
The kids are stepping into their own lives in college.
We’re moving to Charleston full time.
And I’ve been building KDH quietly in the background.
For a long time, I stayed in the background.
Managing the calendar.
The house.
The transitions.
I haven’t shown my face here much — not because I didn’t care, but because it didn’t feel like time.
This moment feels like time.
Not just because I’m launching a brand, though I am.
But because I want to share what’s real, not just what’s polished.
And because I believe the spaces we design — and the stories we live inside of — deserve to be built from a place of honesty, not performance.
So this is me. At 50.
Not reinvented. Not rebranded.
Just here.
Before the official launch…
We’ll be sharing the real stuff. The life behind the design.
Trips we’re taking — some for my birthday, some for inspiration — sourcing moments, and pieces of the collection as it takes shape.
There’s beauty in the middle. Before everything is “ready.”
Thank you for being here.
Before the shop opens.
Before the algorithms.
Before KDH becomes a grid or a logo.
This is the beginning.
Of a new decade.
Of a new home.
Of doing things differently.
I’m stepping forward. With my sleeves rolled up, heart wide open, and eyes on what matters most.
I hope you’ll come with me.
With deep gratitude- Elizabeth
