This is KDH

This is KDH

It didn’t happen overnight.

Somewhere between raising kids, remodeling homes, sketching layouts on napkins, and collecting pieces we couldn’t pass up, something started to take shape.

We weren’t trying to build a business. We were just living our lives, one space and one decision at a time.

Over time, it became clear what it was.

This is KDH.

Rich has always been in architecture. I thought I’d import textiles, but ended up in sales, listening to people, solving problems, and shaping our homes and a few spaces for others along the way. We didn’t call it a studio yet, but the work was already happening. When the timing was right, we recognized it for what it was. That became KDH.

There’s no fixed role in our home, and there isn’t one in our studio either. Rich focuses on structure, layout, and what a space needs to work, while I focus on how it feels, how people live in it, and what matters to them. We approach every project together, and that balance is what shapes the work.

We think about architecture and interiors as one system, shaping how a home works and how it feels. Layout, proportion, light, and materials are considered together from the beginning. Every project starts with listening, and from there we translate that into a space that actually supports how someone lives day to day.

Charleston was a choice we made early, before we had a clear reason for it. Now we do. Our daughter is headed to the College of Charleston, and this place has become part of our life in a real way. The architecture, the materials, the history all reinforce what we already believe.

KDH is not just a studio. We’re creating a way for people to experience design in real spaces. Through our projects and future showroom homes, people can walk through, see how decisions come together, and understand how a space actually works. Not staged. Not theoretical. Real.

We’re not interested in designing for trends. We’re interested in creating homes that feel right and hold up over time. That’s what KDH is built on.
